Barbara Lally
Trichotillomania Author, Advocate, & Coach
My Story
I spent nearly a decade teaching before making the leap into a new career as a coach.
In 2020, I published my memoir, The Trichster Diaries, where I shared my personal journey with trichotillomania, the hair pulling disorder. From that moment on, my mission has been to raise awareness about this often-overlooked disorder that impacts so many lives.
In 2021, I expanded my advocacy efforts by launching a podcast, publishing a guided journal, creating an online course, and leaving my teaching career to pursue coaching full-time. My podcast, Trich Talks, features heartfelt interviews where guests share their experiences with trichotillomania. My guided journal, My Trichster Diaries, invites readers to reflect on their own journeys, blending personal prompts, handwritten notes, tips, poetry, and more. Additionally, I created Sharing Our Stories (SOS), a 25-session interactive online course that dives deep into self-discovery and acceptance. Each session, participants engage with guided journal prompts, meaningful activities, and empowering conversations, fostering a supportive and connected community.
Since 2023, I’ve been working as a certified professional coach, specializing in helping individuals understand, embrace, and accept their trichotillomania. My approach blends both logic and emotion, guiding clients toward self-love and confidence. In 2024, I joined the HabitAware team as a virtual peer coach, continuing my mission to empower and support others on their trichotillomania journeys.
